Quiet morning...

So dad & I had toyed with the idea of taking the kids to Santa's Workshop near Whiteface Mountain today, but the weather report was still saying last night that we'd be having scattered rain through about noon. There were a few clouds when I woke up at 7:30am - back to that in a moment - but now it's about as sunny and blue as you can get. Go figure... We'd decided not to try 'cause there would be no point if it was raining. They're only open 10am-3:30pm, and they are about 2 hours away...

Micaila woke me up at 7:30am with her accident speech. Night-time potty training is not going so well. For every 1 night she stays dry there are 4-5 nights of accidents. I'm trying to keep drinks to a minimum after 7pm and have her try to go potty just before bed, but it doesn't aways seem to help...

So, I actually managed to "sleep in" - although that was only because I didn't get to sleep until about 2:30am... LOL I got off the pc at about 9pm to go watch a few of my recorded shows, and ended up watching CSI NY, CSI Vegas, Criminal Minds, and The Prince & Me (with Julia Stiles). I actually started to watch The Prince &Me II: The Royal Wedding, but decided that while I still didn't feel tired I was starting to get a headache so I turned the tv off... just as Brenden woke up whiny. So it took another 1/2 hour to get him back to sleep, and then I got to sleep!

I made my homemade mac & cheese for dinner last night - with some substitutions... I normally make it with 2-3 lbs of cheese, 4 rounded tsps of butter/margarine, 1 lb of pasta, and some milk. The cheese is normally shredded mozzarella, flavored cheddar (I like the Garlic & Herb best.), and maybe shredded pizza cheese. I didn't have time to go to the religious store here in town to get the flavored cheddar though so I decided to try making it with shredded mozzarella, cubed Colby Jack, French Onion dip (no butter!), 1 lb of pasta, and some milk instead. I think it turned out pretty darn well. It was definitely creamier than the norm. I could have used at least another 1/2 lb of cheese though... The kids got hungry while I was working so I ended up having to add about 6-8 slices of American cheese as well! LOL

We're having our last LO War of the year over at GotSwaps this weekend. The last two times we held it we decided on one Sunday, and from 10am EST-10pm EST whomever posted the most 8x8 or larger completed LOs won. The first time Barbara won with 26 LOs (all paper mind you!), and the second time I won with 21 paper and 11 digital LOs. The rules state that you can build page kits prior to the start time, but cannot start any pages if you want them to count. This time we couldn't all decide on one day so we decided to hold it from 12:01am EST on Saturday through 12am tonight.

I'm using this as an excuse to not only get a bunch of CT LOs done, but to use some of my freebie stash! I managed to complete a total of 7 digital pages yesterday. The first two were posted in yesterday's post. Here are the rest:

I spent most of the evening in front of the tv with the kids. I just wasn't in a very scrappy mood.

At 8:15pm there was ANOTHER knock at the door. This time it was the young guys with the truck that honks when he unlocks it. His landlord had been ticked about our neighbor getting in his face about the noise, and told the guy that it was my husband who got in his face. I explained that it was actually the neighbor next door who had gotten in my face before and after I explained about the vehicle across the way. The young guys apologized to me, and when I told him the neighbor is gone for the weekend camping he said he'd set him straight on Monday. I'm expecting fireworks between the attitudes from both guys...

Although,... at least the young guy apologized for us being bothered. I doubt the nieghbor will bother coming back to do so...

Question of the day... and a rant

Sorry, I'm running REALLY late today... I had to start this at home, and then wait for the boss to go to lunch to finish it! (YIKES!)

The question...

Do you use quick pages? If so, do you use them for yourself or as gifts?

I don't tend to use them unless it is for CT work at the designer's request, but I know a lot of paper scrappers who've asked me where to find great free ones! I like to design them from my pages for my CTs. In fact, tomorrow I'll have not 1, but 2 QPs for those who wish to snag them! Be sure to stop by tomorrow!

The rant...

So, if your neighbor is doing something repeatedly at a specific time which interrupts your sleep and annoys you wouldn't you speak to them the 2nd or third day to find out why, or ask them to stop? Apparently my neighbor has been hoarding his anger for two weeks because he thinks we're honking our car horn at 5:30am every morning.

Mind you - when confronted with this at 7:45pm last night I pointed out that neither of us are in a car in our driveway at that time. My husband leaves for work at 3:30am or 4:30am every day except Sunday when he leaves closer to 6:30am. (He also has Wednesdays and Saturdays off.) I also explained that he was probably hearing a different neighbor across the road from us who has a car alarm that goes off when they use their key ring to unlock it. These neighbors have only been in that apartment for less than 6 months - in fact I believe it's closer to 2 months. We've lived in our house for 15 months.

He went to speak with them. They claimed they have no idea what he is talking about so he came back, and got even more beligerent with me. To the point where I could hear his voioce echoing back off the house across the road. He was "just giving [us] a heads-up" that he and his wife were leaving for the weekend, and if this continued next week he'd be "tracking it down, and we'd have issues". This man has run for county offices several times, and has not once spoken to either of us in the last 15 months. Great personality let me tell you... I hope he does track it down to the jerks across the street who kept me up about a week ago with their yelling, but chances are they'll be smart enough to stop using their key ring to open the car so he keeps blaming us...

I completed 3 LOs last night - two of which completed 4 challenges! Yeah! I'm trying to start my challenges earlier this month so I'm not rushing at the end... LOL The girls over at GotSwaps have decided to have a LO War Weekend this quarter instead of just 1 day so over the weekend I should be creating like crazy... Last quarter I won with 32 8x8 or larger pages in a 12 hour day - 21 paper and 11 digital! I also completed 1 LO this morning.

I didn't create any LOs last night because I was working on my 1st hybrid project for the 2nd evening. I now have 9 of the 12 sides for my decorative cubes done. You're actually supposed to cover all 6 sides of each cube, but since they are meant to stack I don't see the point in decorating the tops and bottoms only to have them get ruined with movement...

I realized on Friday that both the car and the van were due for inspections in September... so I had to ask Dad to call the mechanic here in town to see if he could get them in as our normal mechanic doesn't do inspections. He could get 1 in yesterday, and 1 in tomorrow so as Mike has Wednesdays off and can take the van then the car went in yesterday - and failed. The front driver's wheel bearing was so shot the mechanic could wobble the wheel without removing any bolts... I'd been hearing a noise, but was hoping the tires just needed to be rotated due to wear. At least he can get it in to fix that and re-do the inspection today, but $200 later...

Oh! The photo that I was unsure about two posts ago... Dad told me the other two men are my great uncles, Juddy & Eddy.

We ended up not even getting a call from Nora yesterday so we went to the cider mill - which was much smaller than I remembered! It was still interesting, and we got some awesome fudge in their gift shop as well as some terrific photos with the falls out back. Since there wasn't as much to do there as I thought we also got some cinnamon doughnuts, then stopped at Stewarts for some apple juice, and had a picnic breakfast at the park.

After breakfast the kids spent a good hour to hour and a half on the playground again, and then demanded the zoo... They hadn't been in almost two weeks, and were having zoo withdrawl apparently! LOL So I ended up with 138 pics from yesterday myself...

Then stopped at Super WalMart to pick up some odds'n'ends while the kids took a nap in the van. Grampy stayed with them so I could do the shopping because, of course, they fell alseep before we managed to get out of Watertown... When I got back to the van they'd woken up so we stopped at McD's for lunch. Then headed home. I ended up taking a 1 hour nap after Mike got home, made pizza for dinner, and then didn't get to sleep until after 1am...

Here We Go 'Round The Mulberry Bush...

Ever feel like you're on a merry-go-round that just won't STOP??? Every week I count the days down 'til Sunday... and then watch Sunday fly by! Today we were planning to go to the Burrville Cider Mill with my sister and her kids, but they thought we were going apple picking so I'm really not sure what's going on for the day. Still waiting for a call from her...

The kids have suddenly started demanding dinner at the kitchen table. I know this will probably horrify some of you, but Mike and I have always been more relaxed - having dinner in the livingroom while we watch tv. That didn't change with kids so they've grown up (so far) doing the same. For the last two days they've demanded we sit at the kitchen table to eat dinner though. Wierd...

I spent a large portion of the afternoon and evening yesterday scanning more of the negatives we rescued from my grandparent's house before it was burned to the ground by jerks. Some of them seem to be lost causes, but others are coming out awesome! Keep in mind these negatives are upwards of 58 years old... Here are some of the best from yesterday so far:

I walked over to the trestle across the road from Mom & Dad's last night with the kids to take some sunset pictures. The kids decided to stay at Mom & Dad's while I went to take the pictures which is probably just as well since I got passed by several 4-wheelers while taking them. I used the pictures to create the only LO I got done yesterday which is the last challenge for September...

Almost October...

So we're down to the last two days of September. Seems like the whole year has flown by. I finished the last of the DSO Challenges this morning - the Color Challenge. I made a mini kit with 4 papers, 1 bow, and 1 ribbon. I need to upload it to my 4shared account later today, so maybe I'll share the link tomorrow if anyone is interested. I do want to say that I am NOT up to par with any of the talented ladies I work for! :D

Not much news from home... I did manage to watch CSI NY last night, and I'm heading off to watch CSI Vegas now. I have 1 challenge left to finish by tomorrow night, and am having real difficulty trying to decide WHAT to scrap. The last Monday Mixer for Sept is to scrap the end of something... Maybe I can get a new sunset picture to scrap the end of the day???

Question of the Week...

I'm going to try to post a scrapping related question for discussion each Friday. :) This week - Do you still scrap in with paper? I came across a comment on a thread or blog about a month ago where someone stated they were "Bi-scraptural", and I just loved how that sounded! They meant they scrap in both paper and digital. What about you? Are you a digi-only scrapper, a paper-only scrapper, a hybrid scrapper, or all of the above?

I still work in both paper and digital - although I'm about 90% digital now. I'm also attempting my first hybrid project! I've just found it so much easier (and CHEAPER! LOL) to work in digital as Micaila & Brenden are at an age where they have to be in the middle of anything I'm doing - which makes for a VERY frustrated me if I'm working with paper supplies.

I've been up since 4:30am again. I finally fell alseep at about 11:30pm last night with Micaila next to me on the footstool, and Brenden upstairs... Then woke up at 4am when Brenden decided to lay on my feet! LOL I got up after Mike left for work to run to the bathroom, and haven't been able to get back to sleep. While I was in the bathroom I heard a noise that I assumed was the cat trying to get out of her carrier... apparently it was actually a raccoon in the recycling on the porch because when I opened the door this morning to go take some pictures of the gorgeous big moon I almost tripped over tin cans...

So far this morning I've managed to:
- do dishes
- create 1 LO
- catch upon posting LOs to about 4 sites
- gotten the kids milk and pb&j sandwiches (I swear it is what they demanded for breakfast... Well, actually Brenden tried for bologna & cheese first so pb&j was a compromise. YUCK!)
- clean up the porch
- take a few good pictures of the moon
- take meat out of the freezer for dinner
- post this
- watch CSI Miami's season opener (DVR saves me - CSI NY & Vegas are still recorded - maybe tonight...)

I hadn't let it charge long enough on the USB yesterday, and the battery was dead by the time I got to work anyway! LOL The picture area is only about .5"x1", but it IS a keychain... I'm very happy with it in any case! :)

I spent the better part of the evening watching tv with the kids, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Part I on one of the cable channels. Part II is on tonight at 8pm, and I've all ready gotten a request to watch it with them... I guess it all depends on if Mike has commandeered the tv before then or not.

After the movie I started getting the kids settled in for the night, and managed to finish 1 LO while posting to SDD and uploading photos from Sunday to MySpace.

I have a new toy!

Dad got me part of my Xmas a little early... A few weeks ago I heard about this cool keychain I'd never seen before while perusing blogs... It's a digital photo keychain! I searched the ones at Target.com (as that's where they'd found them), and foundthere were basically two kinds - $29.95 for a 2Mb or $49.99 for an 8Mb. The 2Mb holds up to 56 photos, and I always hate that I don't have photos of the kids handy when I see someone. You'd think with all my scrapping there would be a few photos in my purse, but no! LOL

Well, Bed Bath & Beyond has a 2Mb on sale for $19.99 right now, and had a $5 off coupon for any purchase of $15 or more so Dad got me one! I uploaded photos this morning so I'm off to work!

Reminiscing

So before the kids woke up this morning I read through some notes from high school. Jeez, was I ever really that young? Of course, I don't have any of my notes to my friends - only theirs to me, but still. The inane non-sense that made up our world at that time... Who said what to whom, and who do you currently [heart], and are you going to the dance this Friday, and on, and on... YIKES! Seems like I was too busy for that non-sense, but I guess not! LOL

I also didn't find the ones I was looking for so I'll have to look at Mom & Dad's when I get a chance 'cause there are a large number of notes missing...

Then Brenden woke up... He was his normal smiley, cheerful self - for about 10 minutes. Then he wants a drink... Then he wants a snack (fruit snack pack)... He's told no, and then he wants a banana - which partially peels when he takes it off the bunch so that he throws a fit about it, and wants a different banana... He finally accepts the one he originally took, and proceeds to mash and spread it all over the wall, the floor, and the bookcase! BOY FOR SALE!!!

Mind you, Micaila is laying in a chair watching Shrek 2 during all of this, and I was washing dishes during the mashing and spreading episode. Overall not a great start to the day. I need to go finish uploading LOs to 3S, and take a shower before work. Below are the 3 LOs I created last night!

Monday again...

Ok, so bad me - I never got back here to post later in the day yesterday! LOL Honestly I was just too tired to bother. Saturday night between Brenden and neighbors I didn't get more than a half hour of sleep at any point between 10:30pm & 3:45am. I finally laid Brenden down in his bed at 3:45am, and managed to sleep until 6:30am when Mike shut the door on his way to work. So by the time Mike got home from work I needed a nap - and took a 3 hr one...

On to other things... The kids had a great time at Behling's yesterday. We picked 61 lbs. of apples. Now to find a recipe for apple jelly for some of these... Micaila's all ready declared we need an apple pie (which I haven't made in at least 3 years) and Brenden wants applesauce, but with 61 lbs. I think we need another option as well! LOL



Both kids rode full sizes HORSES yesterday as well! I thought they'd balk because they's only ever been on a small shetland pony once before, but they were great!
